Optimization kills wonder

I believe that optimization is the antithesis of creativity. It assumes that the best way to do something has already been found. It also assumes, in many cases, that the “best” way is the only way. 

In the name of wonder

But if everyone is optimizing, how do we discover new things? Some projects should start because they invoke wonder and curiosity. 

In a world where so much is optimized for profit, that is often impossible. 

What’s the big aim?

The big aim is wonder, experimentation, and discovery. Some AdX Wonder projects may evolve to become businesses or profit-making ventures, some may evolve into community based projects or non-profits.

Some will be white elephants. Some will be like paintings. People will experience them and get filled with beautiful feelings.

The outcome of wonder

So the outcome is irrelevant, as long as there is no harm done and wonder (in all its meanings) fills the process.

And that right there is the magic; sometimes, the outcome of starting a project with wondering, is a whole lot of wonder. And when you have lots of wonder, all sorts of amazing things begin.

This is what we hope to achieve with the AdX Wonder Project.
