Sept 1, 2025 – Amherst Now launches Lost & Found section

Today, Amherst Now, rolls out a new Amherst MA Lost & Found section, making it easier for people in Amherst and surrounding towns to reconnect with their belongings, or their pets.

The section is built right into the community noticeboard and works like this: residents can post what they’ve lost or found, with details and photos, and the posts are shared publicly on the Amherst Now website and on our socials, once we figure out that bit 😄.

Early notices, before we launched the dedicated Lost & Found section, included missing cats from South Hadley and Amherst Center, as well as a terrier mix found near St. Patrick’s Church in Granby.

Other Amherst Lost & Found Resources

The page features lost and found notices, and it also pulls together all the main resources in and around Amherst where someone might check if they’ve lost something:

  • PVTA / UMass Transit Services for items left on buses.
  • Jones Library and branches for lost materials and personal items.
  • Amherst Police Department for items found around town.
  • Lost Pets of Amherst Facebook group and direct contact for the town’s Animal Welfare Officer.

It also lists campus numbers for UMass, Amherst College, and Hampshire, plus quick reference contacts for police and transit services.
