Oct 8, 2025 – how Hosting Stacks was born

In March and April, we were working with a client whose site just wouldn’t perform. We knew it wasn’t about specs alone; website performance is never just about how powerful your hosting is.

That’s why we already had every optimization best practice in place: caching, CDN, RAM, image compression, plugin audits. Still, nothing made sense. The site crawled like a chongololo on leave.

We went through all the usual suspects; plugins, caching, server memory. But nothing explained the slowdown.

Eventually, we turned our attention to the theme. We realized that it wasn’t playing nicely with some of the scripts, but fixing or replacing it would mean rebuilding the entire site layout from scratch. That was a lot of expense that the client hadn’t budgeted for.

A web hosting mystery

So we tried something simple: move the site to a staging server with fewer specs to break things down and test in a clean environment.

And then something wild happened. The site flew. Suddenly, it was blazing fast.

We were stunned. The client was stunned. They said, “If it’s working on this smaller server, why not just leave it there?” So we did. And it worked beautifully. The theme developers eventually got back to us, but by then the problem had solved itself in the most unexpected way.

Inc413 challenges

Around the same time, we were wrestling with hosting issues on Inc413.

That double whammy: the client’s mysterious slowdown and our own hosting headaches, pushed us to rethink everything we knew about performance.

We realized that real speed isn’t about any one part of the system. It’s about how all the parts talk to each other. You can have each part individually optimized, but if they’re not working with synchronicity, you’re not going anywhere fast.
