Oct 5, 2025 – Now streaming from Amherst: Article audio comes to life

The Amherst virtual space just got a little louder, in the best way. For just over a month now, we have been testing audio on Amherst Now.

Starting in August 2025, you can listen to selected articles right on the Amherst Now site.

We’re using Eleven Labs, the same advanced AI voice tech we introduced on Inc413 in December 2024, to generate natural, expressive narration for select features, profiles, and insights.

Adding audio to Amherst Now is part of our ongoing push to make our content more accessible and to meet our readers (and now, listeners) wherever life takes them.

Like all good experiments, this one will evolve. We’ll be expanding audio across more stories and refining the listening experience as we go.

Because life in this little town doesn’t stop, and now, you don’t have to either.

August was also the month that Amherst Now hit 1,000 notices posted and 1,000 organic monthly visitors!
